The multidrug-resistance phenomenon is growing all over the world. In industrialized countries it is assumed that Salmonella mainly acquires resistances in bred animals. A total of 96 pork samples and 90 poultry samples, collected in the Parma and Reggio Emilia provinces, were examined for the presence of the marRAB operon sequence by Polymerase Chain Reaction method. On the basis of the serological tests, 18 Salmonella serotypes were identified. The marRAB operon was present in a considerable number of Salmonella spp. strains. The transmission of genes coding for antibiotic-resistance can spread the drug-resistance pattern among different microrganisms.

Abstract
The multidrug-resistance phenomenon is growing all over the world. In industrialized countries it is assumed that Salmonella mainly acquires resistances in bred animals. A total of 96 pork samples and 90 poultry samples, collected in the Parma and Reggio Emilia provinces, were examined for the presence of the marRAB operon sequence by Polymerase Chain Reaction method. On the basis of the serological tests, 18 Salmonella serotypes were identified. The marRAB operon was present in a considerable number of Salmonella spp. strains. The transmission of genes coding for antibiotic-resistance can spread the drug-resistance pattern among different microrganisms.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
