Abstract
Approximately 5% of patients with renal cancer present with synchronousbilateralrenalmasses(SBRM).Bilateralrenaltumors associated with hereditary syndromes often exhibit more aggressive biological beha viors compared to sporadic SBRM cases. Notably, the prognosis for sporadic cases, in terms of cancerspecific and distant metastasis-free survival, is comparable to that of unilateral renal masses. Owing to their rarity, the management of bilateral renal tumors remains controversial, and international guidelines lack definitive recommendations. Therapeutic decisions should thereforebe tailored tothe tumor’s characteristics, patient comorbidities, and surgical expertise. Nephron-sparing surgery, particularly robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN), is aneffectivestrategythatbalancesoncologicalradicality, perioperative safety, and renal function preservation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
