This Review investigates the topic of reading as it is dealt with in Open Access 11 / D1 and 11 /D2 italian educational journals. The purpose of this review is to provide an overview, albeit partial, of the state of the art of research on reading of the last five years, so that we can identify the relevance of the themes and the approaches of study in Italy, with the aim of identifying emerging issues in research and the possible establishment of research directions. The selected articles were analyzed for macro typologies, and then for types of subject being analyzed and then specific content areas.

Abstract
