Through a problem related to plane figures, we have investigated the ways Primary School children use to compare their areas. In particular, the paper deals with generating reasoning when children of different ages compare different “halves” of a rectangle. This investigation has shown that children’s approaches in solving the problem differ by age. In addition, there is evident of the progress happened in children reasoning through their growth.

Abstract
Through a problem related to plane figures, we have investigated the ways Primary School children use to compare their areas. In particular, the paper deals with generating reasoning when children of different ages compare different “halves” of a rectangle. This investigation has shown that children’s approaches in solving the problem differ by age. In addition, there is evident of the progress happened in children reasoning through their growth.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
