The aim of this work is to furnish a contribution to a dogs biomechanic understanding. The movement of eight samples all belonging to the same race (Flat-Coat) have been studied. In every sample joints angular variation and angular velocity have been analyzed at two different speeds (walk and trot). The obtained data have been used to point out contingent differences due to the different gaits. In addition, a comparison has been done between movements of each animal divided in two categories (male and female) to evidence and quantify the difference due to different morphology.

Abstract

The aim of this work is to furnish a contribution to a dogs biomechanic understanding. The movement of eight samples all belonging to the same race (Flat-Coat) have been studied. In every sample joints angular variation and angular velocity have been analyzed at two different speeds (walk and trot). The obtained data have been used to point out contingent differences due to the different gaits. In addition, a comparison has been done between movements of each animal divided in two categories (male and female) to evidence and quantify the difference due to different morphology.
