In his passage 2 Timothy 2,19 Saint Paul quotes two passages – or, at least, so he says – from the Old Testament. Yet, while the first citation appears to be an almost verbatim quotation from Numbers 16, 5, the second does not refer to any specific passage. As such, it can be read as a summary of a variety of biblical passages. Philologists and exegetes ought to include this pastoral among Saint Paul’s authentic epistles, as it reflects his typical style and also suggests when, biographically, it was written.

Abstract
In his passage 2 Timothy 2,19 Saint Paul quotes two passages – or, at least, so he says – from the Old Testament. Yet, while the first citation appears to be an almost verbatim quotation from Numbers 16, 5, the second does not refer to any specific passage. As such, it can be read as a summary of a variety of biblical passages. Philologists and exegetes ought to include this pastoral among Saint Paul’s authentic epistles, as it reflects his typical style and also suggests when, biographically, it was written.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
