This article focuses on the rich intertextual network pervading Looking for Richard (1996), a docudrama starring Al Pacino as actor-director and King Richard III as the protagonist. The film reflects upon the deeper meaning carried by Shakespeare’s verse in our contemporary, globalised world. The intermingling of interviews, actors’ discussions, rehearsals, and performance throws into relief the metatextual value of the cinematic medium.
