Special Issue: “Advancements in Actuarial Mathematics and Insurance Risk Management”

This Editorial presents the Special Issue “Advancements in Actuarial Mathematics and Insurance Risk Management”, which collects eleven papers on topics of current interest in actuarial science and insurance risk management. The contributions range from methodological developments in risk measurement and stochastic modelling to applications in claims reserving, catastrophe risk, insurance demand, health insurance, longevity, disability, and life-insurance asset management. The Editorial groups the papers into four broad areas and discusses the main connections among them. Particular attention is given to the need to adapt actuarial models to evolving sources of uncertainty, to account for heterogeneity, and to support insurance decisions in increasingly complex economic, demographic, environmental, and behavioural settings.
