A detailed study of the emission dynamics in high-optical-quality YAG ceramics singly and co-doped with Dy3+ and Tb3+ has been carried out in order to investigate the energy transfer processes between the two ions which may influence the potential of (Dy,Tb):YAG as a yellow laser medium. The excited state dynamics of Dy3+ and Tb3+ were studied at room temperature under different experimental conditions to confirm the positive effect of the Tb3+ co-doping on the Dy3+ 4 F9/2 → 6 H13/2 yellow emission channel. Finally, the results obtained in YAG ceramics were compared to those obtained in YAG crystals grown by the μ-pulling down method with the same Dy3+ and Tb3+ co-doping levels.

Abstract
A detailed study of the emission dynamics in high-optical-quality YAG ceramics singly and co-doped with Dy3+ and Tb3+ has been carried out in order to investigate the energy transfer processes between the two ions which may influence the potential of (Dy,Tb):YAG as a yellow laser medium. The excited state dynamics of Dy3+ and Tb3+ were studied at room temperature under different experimental conditions to confirm the positive effect of the Tb3+ co-doping on the Dy3+ 4 F9/2 → 6 H13/2 yellow emission channel. Finally, the results obtained in YAG ceramics were compared to those obtained in YAG crystals grown by the μ-pulling down method with the same Dy3+ and Tb3+ co-doping levels.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
