All’ombra di Momo. A proposito di modernità e critica in un recente volume collettivo

This paper addresses the relationship between modernity and critique, taking as its starting point the early modern reception of the obscure and enigmatic figure of Momus, the god of censure. In light of these considerations, and referencing the noted positions of Michel Foucault in Qu’est-ce que la critique? (1978), the paper explores the interpretive approaches presented in the collection Modernità e Critica, edited by Raffaele Carbone (Naples, 2022). The analysis, which focuses on 20th-century philosophy while also engaging with contemporary debates, is structured along five key axes: 1. Critical re-readings of modern authors; 2. Critical perspectives on modernity; 3. Paradigms of modernity; 4. Modernity and critique between Western Marxism and Critical Theory; 5. Contemporary iterations of critique: themes and perspectives.
