Abstract
The paper deals with one of the most famous fragments (or short poems) of archaic lyric poetry, in doubt between authorial and anonymous folk poetry (Sapph. fr. 168B = fr. 168B Neri = PMG 976). After a reevaluation of metre, language, and the popularity of the motif (the lonely lover’s lament), the manuscript tradition of the sources (Hephaestion, paroemiography), the printed tradition (with particular reference to the colometry), and the relationship between the Notturno and anonymous popular poetry are examined.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
