The use of biochar, which represents the solid by-product derived from pyrolysis and gasification, was extensively studied in cementitious composites in the last years; however, no study can be found in the literature that focuses on the structural performance of biochar-added concrete con-taining steel bar. This work aims to determine the influence of biochar addition on bond behav-iour of concrete containing steel reinforcement uncorroded and subjected to different levels of corrosion, through pull-out tests. By comparing the obtained experimental results to those of a traditional concrete, some insights can be derived to evaluate possible uses of biochar-added con-crete for structural purposes, in order to promote the sustainable transition of the cement industry without compromising safety, long-term performance, and durability.

Abstract
The use of biochar, which represents the solid by-product derived from pyrolysis and gasification, was extensively studied in cementitious composites in the last years; however, no study can be found in the literature that focuses on the structural performance of biochar-added concrete con-taining steel bar. This work aims to determine the influence of biochar addition on bond behav-iour of concrete containing steel reinforcement uncorroded and subjected to different levels of corrosion, through pull-out tests. By comparing the obtained experimental results to those of a traditional concrete, some insights can be derived to evaluate possible uses of biochar-added con-crete for structural purposes, in order to promote the sustainable transition of the cement industry without compromising safety, long-term performance, and durability.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
