2 Communication systems in the framework of intersemiotic translation: content management in Audio Description Abstract This study is framed within the concept of intersemiotic translation, specifically focusing on content management in audio description (AD). It aims to explore how communication systems create inclusive spaces for individuals with sensory disabilities in cultural and natural heritage contexts. The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative techniques to describe, interpret, and gain a deeper understanding of inclusive and accessible communication systems in museums across Metropolitan Lima. It is both descriptive and experimental in nature. The methods employed include semi-structured interviews with museum managers in Lima, surveys (questionnaires) with visually impaired individuals, and documentary analysis of museum information available on their websites and exhibit scripts. Initially, a documentary analysis of Lima's museums was conducted to assess their accessibility and inclusion practices. One key finding was that many museums equate accessibility only with motor disabilities. Most of the museums surveyed lack accessible systems for engaging with cultural heritage, and only a few have begun the process of incorporating inclusion and accessibility measures. The research then focused on the Museum of Natural Sciences at Ricardo Palma University, which, at the time, did not offer accessible materials for people relying on audio description. This study was carried out with the collaboration of museum managers, audio description experts, and individuals with visual impairments. It is important to point out that Audio description serves as a means to compensate for the absence of visual content in exhibits, allowing people with visual impairments to experience visual elements through spoken words. Therefore, study's objective is to provide accessible content, aligning with the overarching goal of enhancing inclusivity.
