Two excavation campaigns conducted in Fiumana (Forlì, Italy), in the area of Ca’ di Mezzo, by Giovanna Bermond Montanari between 1960 and 1962, led to the discovery of a Roman villa. After sixty years, in 2002, the University of Parma launched new archaeological research at the site, focusing on areas where extraordinary satellite images perfectly revealed the outlines of large ancient buried structures. Excavations confirmed the presence of two significant phases: one from the early imperial period and one from the late antique period. Marble decorations discovered in 2023 belong to the first phase, dating back to the early imperial period, while the two large buildings identified to the west and east belong to the late antique phase. The baths of the villa were located in the eastern building. Pottery and coins found suggest that the construction of the late antique complex may have occurred between the early 5th and early 6th centuries AD.
