The present work intends to analyze the satire of customs and its language addressed to one of the main characters who embody vice: the russian coquette, portrayed on the witty pages of the satiric journal «Živopisec» (The painter 1772-1773). In the lively gallery of vicious characters, the coquette stands out in her way of dressing and speaking, mirorring the trendy manners of russian female high society of the time. The contribution will essentially focus on the social, psychological and linguistic behaviour and characterization of the russian coquette (ščegolicha) and her vices, a cliché figure with paradigmatic features, closely related to gallomania, one of the main targets of russian contemporary satirical magazines and comedies.

Abstract
