The article compares the framing of climate change in two protest events held during the 2021 Pre-COP in Milan: a Fridays for Future climate strike and a climate justice march organized by a broader coalition. Combining protest survey data and qualitative interviews with activists, it analyses similarities, differences and spaces for convergence between “new” youth-led climate activism and more traditional climate justice mobilizations. The findings show significant overlap in diagnostic, prognostic and motivational frames, particularly regarding responsibility attribution, systemic change and climate justice, suggesting increasing convergence within the contemporary climate movement.

Abstract
The article compares the framing of climate change in two protest events held during the 2021 Pre-COP in Milan: a Fridays for Future climate strike and a climate justice march organized by a broader coalition. Combining protest survey data and qualitative interviews with activists, it analyses similarities, differences and spaces for convergence between “new” youth-led climate activism and more traditional climate justice mobilizations. The findings show significant overlap in diagnostic, prognostic and motivational frames, particularly regarding responsibility attribution, systemic change and climate justice, suggesting increasing convergence within the contemporary climate movement.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
