The article, taking into reference the theoretical perspective of street-level bureaucracy, aims to reflecting upon the challenging issue of how to reduce the risk of discretion, in the implementation of public policies to reduce poverty. In particular, the article device deep into the experience of a territorial area located in Lombardy in implementing the district service of Reddito di Cittadinanza. It analyses how some adopted organizational arrangements have fostered a reduction in the discretion of professionals in carrying out the interventions required by national legislation and guidelines
