Peter Damian’s relationship with Ravenna has been complex. In my contribution I consider it from three points of view: biographical, cultural, and textual. Damian mentions Ravenna many times in his works and places it in a sort of sacred and idealized history. I also reconsider Dante’s supposed encounter with Damian’s texts in Ravenna.
