Luigi Vietti. Prime indagini d'archivio su un Maestro dimenticato

At the end of the last century, Luigi Vietti, one of the most prolific, unrecognized or forgotten figures in 20th century Italian architecture, passed away. The occasion of the deposit of his immense Archive at the CSAC of Parma has allowed a deepening on the professional work of the author, as well as the opening of a window on the architecture of the Italian twentieth century directly from who, that century, has crossed it almost completely both temporally (from the Twenties to the end of the Nineties) and geographically (from North to South, including the Islands). His participation has been very active, even if lived on the margins of a certain criticism and official publicity which, together with his lack of interest in spreading what he did, has meant that his figure and his work are currently little known. This article, and the entire monographic issue, constitute the first return of an ongoing inter-university research activity involving scholars from different universities in Italy and abroad.

Sul finire del secolo scorso è scomparso Luigi Vietti, una delle figure più prolifiche quanto misconosciute o dimenticate dell’architettura italiana del Novecento. L’occasione del deposito al CSAC di Parma del suo immenso Archivio ha consentito un approfondimento sull’operato professionale dell’autore nondimeno che l’apertura di una finestra sull’architettura del Novecento Italiano direttamente da chi, quel secolo, l’ha attraversato quasi completamente sia temporalmente (dagli anni Venti a fine anni Novanta) che geograficamente (da Nord a Sud, Isole comprese). La sua partecipazione è stata molto attiva anche se vissuta a margine di una certa critica e pubblicistica ufficiali che insieme al suo disinteressamento a diffondere ciò che faceva ha fatto sì che la sua figura e il suo operato siano attualmente poco conosciuti. Questo articolo, e l’intero numero monografico, costituiscono la prima restituzione di un’attività di ricerca interuniversitaria in corso di svolgimento che coinvolge studiosi provenienti da diverse università in Italia e all’Estero.
