Factorial analysis was used to study the correlation between blood lipids and immunoglobulin (Ig) G, A and M in a pediatric phenylketonuric population receiving dietary therapy. Chronological age, dietary compliance and age at the start of dietary therapy were considered as potentially related variables. One extracted factor links chronological age, total cholesterol, IgM and mean plasma phenylalanine values directly. In children with phenylketonuria diet seems to influence the interrelated changes in blood lipids and Ig levels.

Abstract

Factorial analysis was used to study the correlation between blood lipids and immunoglobulin (Ig) G, A and M in a pediatric phenylketonuric population receiving dietary therapy. Chronological age, dietary compliance and age at the start of dietary therapy were considered as potentially related variables. One extracted factor links chronological age, total cholesterol, IgM and mean plasma phenylalanine values directly. In children with phenylketonuria diet seems to influence the interrelated changes in blood lipids and Ig levels.
