The paper analyses a philological reconstruction of the ballet (La Scala Theatre, Milan, 2006) and through a theorical and technical knowledge of Indian classical dance it supposes and tries to demonstrate that the choregrapher Marius Petipa was inspired by original Indian dance and movements in drawing his choreographies for La Bayadère (1877).
