Il Modello Singapore. Democrazia e tecocrazia nel XXI secolo

In this essay, I aim to reflect on the “Singapore Model”, which Danilo Zolo evokes at the end of Democracy and Complexity (Il principato democratico). The focus of my reflection will revolve around the impact of Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) on contemporary democracies: I will ask how the evolution of information processing and dissemination technologies affects democratic processes. The conclusion of my reasoning is that a thorough reflection on the scope of ICT in the democratic sphere could lead to repositioning, if not downsizing, some of the critical issues that filtered through Zolo’s speech.
