The article deals with P.Oxy. LXXVI 5093, in particular with col. IV → ll. 1-23, concerning the evidence of an early Euripidean version of Medea. After an updated status quaestionis, the credibility of the anonymous declamation transmitted by the papyrus is questioned, with particular reference to the two trimetres cited by this Ur-Medea and to ll. 22-23 of col. IV (§ 3), which contain a judgement on the Athenian public, now compared with an Euripidean testimony on the Athenian competition of 415 BC (Ael. VH 2,8).
