BLT or giant condyloma acuminatum is an infrequent, large, exo-endophytic lesion that was originally observed in the penile foreskin by Buschke in 1896 and subsequently described also in the perianal region. Histologically, it is a form of luxuriant epithelial proliferation that is always preceded by an anogenital wart and must therefore be considered as a sexually transmitted disease triggered by HPV infection. However, only very rare cases of condylomata acuminata develop BLT; immunodeficiency and promiscuous anal intercourse are the most influential risk factors.

Abstract
BLT or giant condyloma acuminatum is an infrequent, large, exo-endophytic lesion that was originally observed in the penile foreskin by Buschke in 1896 and subsequently described also in the perianal region. Histologically, it is a form of luxuriant epithelial proliferation that is always preceded by an anogenital wart and must therefore be considered as a sexually transmitted disease triggered by HPV infection. However, only very rare cases of condylomata acuminata develop BLT; immunodeficiency and promiscuous anal intercourse are the most influential risk factors.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
