The article examines some excerpts of Freud's Some reflections on schoolboy psychology, interpreted in the light of the current debate on the Pedagogy of the Person. Following this line of thought leads our attention to focus on a general condition: if formation can come about only within an involved relationship, then it follows that a teacher, regardless of his will, must go beyond his established role at each and every stage of his practice. Taking this perspective into account, the teacher as an individual, -i.e. both as a prerequisite of education and a dynamic, interactive element- deserves attention and care for a new paideia.

Abstract
