The Farnese Theatre in Parma was one of the greatest wooden theatres in Europe. However, what we see today is the result of a twentieth century reconstruction. After the shelling of 1944, only the perimeter walls still covered by their pictorial decorations remained. The contribution presented here illustrates the first results of a wider research recently started within the DIA of the University of Parma. Specifically, it shows how the frescoes on the back wall of the theatre represent a specular copy of the plastic wooden proscenium.

Abstract
The Farnese Theatre in Parma was one of the greatest wooden theatres in Europe. However, what we see today is the result of a twentieth century reconstruction. After the shelling of 1944, only the perimeter walls still covered by their pictorial decorations remained. The contribution presented here illustrates the first results of a wider research recently started within the DIA of the University of Parma. Specifically, it shows how the frescoes on the back wall of the theatre represent a specular copy of the plastic wooden proscenium.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
