This research starts from the hypothesis that the two types of calculation available today (analytical standardized method and simplified method) present some limits of applicability, in particular if used for the evaluation of historical architecture, which has technical, geometric, and architectural characteristics that differ significantly from the ones of modern buildings. The use of non-specialized instruments can lead to errors in the calculation of the residual energetic performance of historical buildings. This calculation error can consequently lead to choices of intervention that can be harmful to the conservation of the building, to the final level of comfort of its interior, or to the resulting energy efficiency. This study critically analyses the current methods of calculating energy efficiency, with the purpose of verifying their validity and limits of applicability, by testing them on a sample of historic buildings. This analysis shows significant differences between the results obtained by the analytical method, taken as reference, and the calculations made with the simplified system. The study identifies the need for developing a method for evaluating the energy performance of historic architecture different from the one used for modern buildings.
La ricerca condotta prende avvio dall’ipotesi che le due tipologie di calcolo oggi disponibili (metodo analitico standardizzato e metodi semplificati) presentino alcuni limiti di applicazione per la valutazione dell’architettura storica, le cui caratteristiche tecnologiche, di geometria costruttiva e architettoniche si differenziano molto più sensibilmente dall’edilizia recente, rispetto ai fabbricati che costituiscono il tessuto storico aggregativo di base. L’uso di strumenti non specifici può portare a commettere un errore significativo nel calcolo della prestazione energetica residua dei fabbricati, sottostimando o sovrastimando tale valore. Questo errore può, di conseguenza, condurre a scelte di intervento in grado di pregiudicare la salvaguardia dell’edificio stesso, il comfort interno e il risparmio di risorse energetiche. Lo studio analizza dunque criticamente gli attuali metodi di calcolo energetico con l’obiettivo di verificarne validità e limiti di applicazione testandoli su casi studio selezionati tra edifici storici campione. L'analisi evidenzia scostamenti significativi tra il risultato ottenuto con il metodo analitico, preso come riferimento, e quelli dei sistemi di calcolo semplificati, e rimarca ancor più la necessità di trattare il tema della valutazione della prestazione energetica dei contenitori dell’architettura storica in modo assolutamente differente da quella dell’edilizia di recente costruzione.
