In the present paper, the multiaxial fatigue estimation of severely notched specimens under Low- Cycle Fatigue (LCF) is carried out by extending to notched structural components the strain-based criterion recently proposed by Carpinteri et al. for plain specimens. Such an extension is formulated by implementing the concept of the control volume related to the Strain Energy Density (SED) criterion proposed by Lazzarin et al. More precisely, the material point where the fatigue strength assessment is performed is assumed to be located at a distance which is a function of the control volume radius provided by the SED criterion. Some multiaxial LCF data, recently published in the literature for V-notched round bars made of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy, are analysed through the present criterion.
