The work that led to the creation of Justinian’s code aimed at overcoming the contrasts and antinomies present in the material gathered in the various collections, in order to create a work that was coeherent and organic. However, it was impossible not to detect the permanence of defects and contrasts within the Compilation. Justinian wanted to overcome these antinomies with appropriate legislative measures, in particular with the so-called Novellae Constitutiones. This study aims to examine some of these constitutions in order to clarify their scope and effects.
