Despite the continuous restoration campaigns that the Parma Baptistery underwent from the beginning of the nineteenth century to the present day, until recently the last overall survey of the Antelami’s monument dates back to 1864. This work illustrates and motivates the realization of the accurate architectural survey carried out within the DIA of the University of Parma in order to manage the continuous restoration work that the building inevitably requires, assess the quality of survey performed by G. Bertoluzzi in the mid nineteenth century and support the study of the light inside building.
