What is a gastronomic book? A cookbook? If it is kitchen and gastronomy would be the same thing. On the contrary, as is well known, gastronomy has a well-rounded approach regarding culinary practice, a vision expressed in books that are extremely different both on the formal and on the content level. Therefore, defining what is a gastronomic book is an attempt to identify some elements of a possible book’s identity, not only with the reference to contemporary publishing but, above all, taking into account what emerges from a retrospective review.
