Two roman villas were discovered and excavated in the proximity of Parma, in the northern and eastern outskirts near via Forlanini and via De Chirico. Both villas belong to the farm type with modest rooms, simply organized around open spaces where the main activities, linked to the wool processing, tipical of Parma, took place. The villas were located inside the roman centuriation system along the ancient Via Parma-Brescello and the ancient Via Parma-Lucca and, according to rediscovered materials, had a long life stretching from roman times to the late antiquity.
