Domestica illi felicitas est; exiret ex animo si intraret: ibi nascitur (Sen. epist.72,4)

This paper aims to highlight the importance of Seneca’s Letter 72, placed at the center of the Book VIII of Seneca’s epistulae, which has so far not been wellvalued at a doctrinal level. The study analyzes some crucial issues, such as the relationship virtus/occupationes and the concept of felicitas. The paper then focuses on “Epicureum illud chaos”, which turns out to stress elements of antiepicurean controversy useful for a better understanding of the whole epistle.
