In this article I argue that one of the underlying political issues of the contemporary critical theory is still the achievement of some sort of theory hybridization free from dominating patterns, a meeting point where European and American perspectives encounter each other in a more balanced and fruitful way. This should concern not only Europeans and Americans, but also traditions from other continents. The Prague conference on the Social Sciences, in this sense, has been for decades the place where the geopolitics of critical theory is best represented and where it is being reshaped. What is needed is an equilibrium capable of avoiding the sort of oscillation between colonization, reciprocal refusal and invisibility that affects other intellectual and worldly fields, and that in philosophy has been epitomized by the divide between analytic and continental philosophy and the distorted academic practices and geophilosophical power relations this gave rise to.
