The natural alkaloid (-)-huperzine A is an inhibitor of AChE and has been demonstrated to exert neuroprotection and to possess beneficial effects on other CNS related disorders. In this manuscript, we report the synthesis of the analogs of huperzine A in their enantiomeric form, starting from a common precursor that can be easily prepared in both the enantiomeric forms in high enantiomeric excess and at moderate costs.
