The town of Codiponte, located in the inner part of Lunigiana (Tuscany), represents the typical historical centre perched on the limestone rocks of the Apennines, which have experienced, in the past, the importance of a strategic position and nowadays is in a progressive state of neglect. A recent seismic event, occurred in 2013, despite its moderate intensity, has damaged the two main symbols of the town: the bridge (which gives name to the town itself) and the castle, which suffered partial collapses, due to the lack of maintenance occurred in the last decades. This negative event was seen as an occasion of relaunch by the strong local community, aware of their architectural heritage and willing to promote strategies to enhance the area. The exposed project thus aims to recover the bridge and the Medieval fortress from the damages suffered and, through their preservation, to promote and enhance the neighboring area by encouraging tourism and the quality of life of the inhabitants. The project is based on an attentive survey and analysis of the current situation and aims, through minimal interventions, to give these symbolic constructions back to their inhabitants, increasing the safety and preservation conditions.
