In caseofvehicle fires inhighwaytunnels,hightemperatures,lowvisibilityalongwiththeemissionof toxicanddangerousgasesrepresentsignificant hazardsforthesafetyofthevehiclepassengersinvolved, as wellasfortheintegrityofthetunnelstructure.Thus,materialspotentiallyexposedto fires mustshow adequate fire behaviourinordertoguaranteethesafetyofpassengers,rescueteamsandstructures.The present studyaddressesthecharacterizationofthermalpropertiesandcombustionbehaviourofdif- ferent kindsofasphaltmixturesbymeansofconecalorimetertestsperformedatdifferentradiantheat fluxes.Theresultshighlightedthatcoarseaggregatesofdifferentnaturemainlyaffecttheignition properties ofmixtureswhiletheairvoidscontentplaystheleadingroleingoverningtheoverall fire behaviour.
