This paper looks at the ethical issues inherent in the work of media educators, with the idea that these do not only concern the individual actors, but all media educators as a professional category. The first part of the article argues for an approach to ethical questions that is neither normative nor deontological, but rather emerges from a shared sensibility that leads all professionals in the field to act as autonomous and responsible subjects in their respective jobs. In the second part, then, three key problems are discussed: 1. the contents that media educators choose to teach, 2. their methods of establishing educational relationships, and 3. their (sometimes limited) awareness of the ideological, scientific and methodological principles that nonetheless guide them in their work.

Abstract
This paper looks at the ethical issues inherent in the work of media educators, with the idea that these do not only concern the individual actors, but all media educators as a professional category. The first part of the article argues for an approach to ethical questions that is neither normative nor deontological, but rather emerges from a shared sensibility that leads all professionals in the field to act as autonomous and responsible subjects in their respective jobs. In the second part, then, three key problems are discussed: 1. the contents that media educators choose to teach, 2. their methods of establishing educational relationships, and 3. their (sometimes limited) awareness of the ideological, scientific and methodological principles that nonetheless guide them in their work.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
