The article draws a description of Positive Psychology, overviewing a broad spectrum of contributions, from the first historical speculations that laid the foundations for this approach to the most recent applications in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy. It takes its cue from physiology to define the inevitability of the trap of the subjective perception of reality and uses metaphors and everyday examples to illustrate the potential of this approach.
