In the current work we describe genome diversity and core genome sequences among representatives of three bifidobacterial species, i.e., Bifidobacterium adolescentis, Bifidobacterium catenulatum and Bifidobacterium pseudocatenulatum, by employing a polyphasic approach involving analysis of 16S rRNA gene and 16S-23S ITS sequences, Pulsed Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE) and comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) assays.
