Dairy cows farms, in italy has decreased, but the total number of cows did not change so each farm has increased the number of cows. The animals coming from different part of the Country or sometime from foreign Countries has determined a remarkable increase of microbial concentration and virulens in farms with more animals and ascence of external paddocks. This situation exitated in more pathologies regarding the udder, the genital apparatus and neonatal patologies and mortality[5]. Many therapies have been performed with different success rates [1,2,4]. The aims of the present study have been the investigate the efficacy of Hydrogen Peroxide (OX_AGUA® and OX_VIRIN®) for the drastic decrease of microbic pathogenic concentration of drinking water and the improvement of reproductive fertility and neonatal mortality. The study has been performed on 608 dairy cows belonging to two different farms in the north part of Italy similar stabulation, feeding and milk destination. We performed a microbiological examination of drinking water ( Tab. I ) than by means of a pump, we treat the water with hydrogen peroxide 48%, silver nitrate 0,05%, excipients and water ( OX-AGUA®). The treatment has been performed with the presence of the animals so the at the beginning the administration has been 20 g/m3. The administration has been gradually increased until 60 g/m3 then the hydric system has been emptied until when the system was cleared from the product. Then the administration has been constantly kept to 30 g/m3. Tab. I shows the difference between bacteriological concentration before and after treatment . The data regarding reproduction and neonatal mortality, are shown in tab. II. We can see that the treatment with OX-AGUA® and OX-VIRIN® has been very useful for the improvement of all the reproductive parameters and for a significative decrease of neonatal mortality.
