An Eulerian-Lagrangian finite element model is presented to reproduce the propagation of a contaminant in an unsaturated porous medium. The basic concept regards the different treatment of the two main transport’s component: the convective part is solved using the forward particle tracking, while the diffusive component is treated adopting the finite element method on a fixed grid. Application to two cases are considered: continuous injection from the ground and finite time injection.
