A photoactivatable caged cyanide, 1-(2-nitrophenyl)ethyl (NPE) cyanide, was synthesized, which upon irradiation in the near UV releases cyanide. It is demonstrated that the compound can be used to induce formation of the FeIII–CN− complex in the heme protein nitrophorin 4 from Rhodnius prolixus.

Abstract
A photoactivatable caged cyanide, 1-(2-nitrophenyl)ethyl (NPE) cyanide, was synthesized, which upon irradiation in the near UV releases cyanide. It is demonstrated that the compound can be used to induce formation of the FeIII–CN− complex in the heme protein nitrophorin 4 from Rhodnius prolixus.File in questo prodotto:
