This paper proposes an alternative measurement technique for the dynamic parameter identification of large structures when the application of traditional sensors is hampered by practical limits about the implementation of the measurement setup. Vision sensors and a proper image analysis are able to overcome the sensor fixing difficulties with a flexible instrumentation layout. In the case of a civil structure, the natural frequencies are low enough to be correctly estimated by a video grabbed at a standard frame rate, generally available in commercial imaging devices. The experimentation results confirm the advantages of the proposed method.

Abstract
This paper proposes an alternative measurement technique for the dynamic parameter identification of large structures when the application of traditional sensors is hampered by practical limits about the implementation of the measurement setup. Vision sensors and a proper image analysis are able to overcome the sensor fixing difficulties with a flexible instrumentation layout. In the case of a civil structure, the natural frequencies are low enough to be correctly estimated by a video grabbed at a standard frame rate, generally available in commercial imaging devices. The experimentation results confirm the advantages of the proposed method.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
