A practical relevance combines the beauty as a theoretical principle of architecture and the material, as a physical fact, but also as a matter of expression. Kairos, the greek demon who oversees the time suspended, or the “occasion”, seems to find in the quality, the connection between the intellectual idea of beauty, and the material of the building completed. An exceptional instrument for any architect, whose excellence is - as Scamozzi said in his Treaty - when a "rude" and "vile" material became a "fair" and "elegant" form. Good construction becomes a principle for the theory of architecture. The challenge of modernity, connected by the idea of “quality” and “sustainability” as essential issues for the project, is to sew up that balance now in part compromise, between the “venustas” as a principle of harmony, and the “good construction”. Together new materials and new techniques of sustainable architecture, may identify new transmissible cultural models for contemporary architecture.
