ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY OF CONNECTED ACTIVITIES: COGENERATION FROM BIOGAS The production of agri-energy, in the context of connected activities, is a topic of great current importance to which the world of politics and business should dedicate special attention. Adding new activities alongside the traditional production of their own businesses, farmers can guarantee, first and foremost, a higher income for the company, followed by a series of services that provide benefits for the entire community, so that the farmer is also invested with the role of defender of the environment. Agri-energy is one of the connected activities that typifies the multifunctional farmer, so the aim of our investigation was to assess, from the economic and organisational standpoint, the benefits that the farm business can reap from a plant for the cogeneration of energy from biogas produced from the effluent of a dairy The analysis considers the presence or otherwise of public aid for the realisation of the works. From an analysis of the balances, it is possible to make an objective assessment of the advantages to be gained from the construction of such a plant. Its implementation at corporate level can offer interesting opportunities for differentiating the farmer’s sources of revenue, while also generating positive repercussions on the environment and on the community at large.
