Abstract: We present examples in which young students show their epistemic beliefs in a school activity inspired to Plato's Menon. We discuss examples of implicit epistemology in curricula and in teacher practice, presenting a new form of epistemology, the concept epistemology which can be considered an integration of the dichotomy explicit - implicit epistemologies. The paper presents some analyses of typical exercise solutions showing the hidden epistemological requirements of these treatments, requirements that may change according to the tasks.
