The article describes the experience carried out at Università degli Studi di Parma, Italy, about the production and running in 2009 of a web site (video server) for the distribution of video files for students and teachers at Parma University; the paper goes through the project steps and examines in details the main features of the system, with special attention turned to aspects relevant to video cataloguing, tagging, didactics, education, and Web 2.0.
