In these last years, the spread of a new sensitivity towards environmental problems and the ever more pressing requests of energy conservation have determined the growth of new construction technologies, such as the so-called “S/R” (structure/envelope) one. In Italy, this technology is especially used for partition walls and infill panels, while the bearing structure is still often realized by means of a RC frame. This particular “mixed” system has been analyzed from a structural point of view, in order to evaluate the influence exerted by the “S/R” technology on the RC frame with respect to traditional solutions (mainly represented by masonry partition walls and infill panels), both in terms of structural design and in terms of global behavior under applied loads.
