In this work, the structural behavior of precast prestressed hollow core floors with large openings has been studied, by performing non-linear finite element analyses. In order to obtain more general results which can be easily handled by designers, a parametric study has been performed by considering several floors, characterized by different thickness and geometry of the slabs as well as by different dimensions and locations of the opening. The influence of opening on strength and deformation of the hollow core slabs has been shown by comparisons with the floor without openings, providing some general design recommendations concerning both serviceability and ultimate limit state conditions. The extension of the disturbance caused by the opening and consequent reduction of the bearing capacity in the involved panels have been also evaluated.

Abstract
In this work, the structural behavior of precast prestressed hollow core floors with large openings has been studied, by performing non-linear finite element analyses. In order to obtain more general results which can be easily handled by designers, a parametric study has been performed by considering several floors, characterized by different thickness and geometry of the slabs as well as by different dimensions and locations of the opening. The influence of opening on strength and deformation of the hollow core slabs has been shown by comparisons with the floor without openings, providing some general design recommendations concerning both serviceability and ultimate limit state conditions. The extension of the disturbance caused by the opening and consequent reduction of the bearing capacity in the involved panels have been also evaluated.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
